Hit and Run

Our Alero was the victim of a hit and run accident last night in the grocery store parking lot. It was dark and we didn't notice until later when the rear window started to fall apart. Then on further inspection we found where someone had hit the rear bumper. Just a couple of scratches on the bumper, but the rear window is shattered.
Looks like I'll be putting some plastic in the window until the insurance company and the glass guys get things arranged.

I am also sorry to hear about this. You really do need to have the car inspected. First, empty the trunk and lift up the carpet and look at the trunk floor. If the rear bumper got hit hard enough to break the back glass, there will be bent metal in the inner metal structure of the unibody. You can also lay on the ground and look under the back of the trunk and check the frame rails for any wrinkles. Plastic bumpers are made to pop back out, but the metal under them isn't. If you get hit in the back again without first having the damage repaired, you could get hurt. Not a good thing. What insurance company do you have? I am in this line of work. Oh and Merry Christmas to all. I am glad nobody was hurt.
