Movie Review

Last night we popped up some homemade (not that microwave junk) popcorn and picked a movie on Netflix to watch.

deception  The movie is Deception. Here is the Netflix summary:

When Bessie learns her husband was killed in a plane crash, she suspects something's amiss. Discovering that he had stashed cash in bank accounts all over the world, Bessie sets out to recover the money and get answers about her husband's demise.

It stars Liam Neeson, Andie MacDowell and Viggo Mortensen. Now you would think the description and that list of actors would be an indication of a fairly good movie.

Here's my one sentence review:

I'll never get that 90 minutes of my life back.

I understand that the film was originally titled Ruby Cairo. It was re-edited and released on video with the title Deception.

After thinking about the movie overnight I came up with a lot of things that just didn't work. This will have spoilers.

When Andie's character finally catches up with her supposedly dead husband (Viggo) there is never an explanation of what he was doing, why he was doing it or why he faked his death.

Why did the authorities in Mexico send her his false teeth? That's not the way you inform someone of the death of a person. Why not contact the police where she lived and have them tell her? On the same subject how did all the neighborhood find out and why did they all gather at her house.
Also, her reaction to arriving home would have been concern that something had happened to her children; not her husband.

At one point in the movie whan she is getting all her husband's money she tells her sleeping child that they are going to move away and get a fancy house. But at the end of the movie when Liam Neeson arrives, she is still living in the same place.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

If you want to watch a movie with plot holes or to make fun of.....this is your flick.
