County Fair

Both LaRue and Liz entered items in this years county fair. And they both won ribbins!

LaRue got a blue ribbon for her apricots.

Liz got a red ribbon for this quilt:

Congratulations. Wooooooooooooow. I am so impressed. What did LaRue do to the apricots. Can you post an edited version here or in my inbox? Did Liz, the heroic new Postal Part Time Employee sew that on your mom's machine? Good use of fabrics in a traditional pattern. The points look right on.

Hugs to all of you.

LaRue just picked some of the best looking apricots and entered them right off the tree.
Liz actually made that quilt in school at the end of the school year.
She has made two baby quilts and a large one on Mom's old machine this summer.

Liz should have had a BLUE ribbon. They didn't give her one because they said with the size of some of the squares - she should have done a bit of quilting inside those squares. Picky, picky. They should have seen all the intricate quilting all around the edges.

I had nothing to do with the size of our apricots. The tree really won the ribbon. All I did was pick the apricots.

Our ribbon prize money: $1.00 = blue ribbon.
.50 = red ribbon

When I was 12 and in 4-H the counties paid the exact amount. County Fairs need to get prize money up-dates. Or just forget giving prize money and donate it all to charity so the homeless can buy some chewing gum.
